The North American Six-Horse Hitch Classic Series Board of Directors convened February 5–6, 2026, in Dunnellon, Florida, for its annual in-person meeting. With a shared vision for growth and continued opportunity within the draft horse industry, the Board proudly approved the implementation of the Classic Riding Series. This marks the fifth division in Classic Series history and an exciting step forward for the organization.
- The Classic Riding Series will operate under the North American Six-Horse Hitch Classic Series By-Laws.
Rules for participants:
- The Classic Riding Series will offer four classes:
-
- 18 and Under English
- 18 and Under Western
- 19 and Over English
- 19 and Over Western
- The age for 18 and Under will be based on the individual's age, as of January 1st, of the current year.
- The 18 and Under division will be asked to Walk and Trot. The 19 and Over division will be asked to Walk, Trot, Lope or Canter, whichever is appropriate for the discipline.
- There is a $50 membership fee to participate. No late fee will be applied to Classic Riding Series memberships during the ‘25–26 show season. However, memberships associated with the Classic Cart, Classic Halter, and/or Six-Horse Hitch divisions will remain subject to the standard late fee policy.
Youth members are exempt from the $50 fee but must establish their Classic Riding Series membership to accumulate points. - The Classic Riding Series will track points based on the individual rider, not the animal.
- There is no minimum payout for the Classic Riding Series.
Riding classes registered with the Classic Series must be placed in their entirety. - It is the show’s discretion to enforce, but wearing a helmet is recommended to riders.
- Crossbreds are welcome to participate, but should be presented and able to provide proof of being at least 50% draft breed type, ie: Belgian, Clydesdale, Percheron, Shire, Suffolk. Shows will have discretion if they allow Crossbred horses to enter.
